Join We Are ILL for an engaging and informative discussion about how and why Black medical students should consider pursuing a career in neurology. The event will take place in the Numa Adams Building, RM 1008, on the campus of Howard University's College of Medicine, located at 520 W St NW, Washington, DC 20059. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been a catalyst for cultivating the best and brightest African American students for over a century. “HBCU Impact: The Future of Black Neurology” is a dynamic program by patient advocacy organization We Are ILL (WAI) that aims to introduce MS awareness and education at an earlier stage among Black pre-med and medical students on campus and, ultimately, in their own communities.Research shows that Black patients have better health outcomes under the care of Black healthcare professionals, and by preparing and equipping medical students about therapeutic areas that predominantly affect the Black community, WAI strives to affect change. WAI hopes to inspire future neurologists and other healthcare workers by educating the current undergraduate student body at HBCUs with medical schools.
