She has been a member of Pfizer’s Worldwide Business Development Leadership Team for the past 13 years where she is responsible for leading Pfizer Ventures, managing the corporation’s private equity portfolio, as well as overseeing equity-based transactions that support business development. Pfizer Ventures has invested in over 90 companies and 20 funds pursuing products, technologies and services, relevant to all aspects of Pfizer’s business since inception in 2004. Barbara is directly responsible for Pfizer’s investments in: Artios, Cydan, Imara, Ixchelsis, Levicept, Yumanity. She joined SmithKline’s venture capital group, S.R. One, Limited in 1993 and in 2000 Barbara became a General Partner in the private venture fund, EuclidSR Partners, that was supported by GSK (then SB) as a sister fund to S.R. One, Limited. Barbara began her pharmaceutical career as a research scientist and spend 10 years pursuing anti-inflammatory drug discovery research at SmithKline and French Research Laboratories, after spending ten years in academia researching Interferons. Barbara has been a leader in the corporate venture capital world, helping to establish the Corporate Venture Capital Group within the National Venture Capital Association. She has also been an active member and leader in her regional venture organizations. She has been on the board of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation, the NYBio organization and currently Chairs the Healthcare group of the Partnership Fund for New York City.
