Our expert staff are Certified Photographic Consultants; trained and tested by the Photo Marketing Association International. We are qualified and enthusiastic to help you choose and teach you how to use your camera equipment, even if you bought it elsewhere.

One of our most exciting workshops is back! Join us for a special session where you'll photograph birds of prey in flight. Photographing birds in flight is full of special challenges, so this hands-on session is full of tips &amp; techiniques to help you get some spectacular shots.Key topics for this session<ul><li>Stopping fast action</li><li>Tracking focus</li><li>Animal behavior &amp; anticipating the action</li><li>Panning technique</li><li>Composition, light, and the figure/ground relationship</li></ul>Gear to consider<ul><li>Interchangeable-lens camera - Most all-in-one type cameras aren't quite fast enough!</li><li>Fast telephoto lens - e.g. 70-200mm f/2.8 or equivalent. We'll be pretty close to the birds, so you won't need a really long lens like you'd usually use for birding. You can leave the 600mm at home :)</li><li>Fast spare memory cards - we'll be on continuous shooting mode a lot! Plan to take hundreds of photos to get a few good ones.</li><li>Extra batteries</li><li>Monopod if you're worried about the weight of your camera, or to assist with panning.</li></ul>Class size is very limited, we can not overbook this session.COVID-19 Safety at Dan's Photo WorkshopsWe take the health and comfort of our customers and staff seriously. Dan's has implemented new heath protocols to ensure workshops can be conducted safely.<ul><li>Contactless check-in – Our new Eventbrite ticketing system allows for contactless check-in. Please make sure to have your tickets ready when you arrive!</li><li>Small outdoor classes – Small class sizes at outdoor locations allow plenty of room for physical distancing.</li><li>Hand sanitizer available, Masks required – Hand sanitizer will be available at the check-in table. And of course, staff and students are all required to wear masks that cover their mouth and nose.</li></ul>Inclement Weather &amp; cancellationsIn times of inclement weather, please contact us to check the status of your class. We will be in touch with everyone who registers to confirm a postponed rain date. Dan’s reserves the right to cancel classes with less than 50% enrollment. In this case, students may choose credit toward a future class or a refund.
