29th Annual Barbara Jordan National Forum

The LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin will pay tribute to the life and legacy of former congresswoman, distinguished public servant and teacher Barbara Jordan during the 29th annual Barbara Jordan National Forum.

The Barbara Jordan Health Fair celebrates community, strength, and wellness. This event will bring together local organizations and healthcare professionals committed to providing resources to support every aspect of your health. The event will offer non-profits and city services that will provide free health services, financial counselors, educational sessions on mental health, and a yoga class. We'll even have a visit from Texas' very own, HEBuddy! The HIV Resources Administration (HRA) is responsible for procuring HIV/AIDS primary medical care, treatment, and health-related support services for the City of Austin-funded HIV Prevention and Care Services, as well as multiple federal grants, including Ryan White Part A and the Minority AIDS initiative, Ryan White Part C, and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS. CommUnityCare provides care to anyone regardless of income, health insurance coverage, or ability to pay for services. The American Red Cross Central and South Texas Region serves 83 counties, home to more than 9.4 million people. For more than 100 years, volunteers in every corner of the region have provided hope and comfort to their neighbors in crisis. They convene the community to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies large and small. Creative Action helps young people develop skills for long-term academic, personal, and career success through high-quality, socially and culturally-relevant arts education programs led by professional Teaching Artists. The mission of Lock Arms for Life is to inspire all gun owners to use firearms safely — for our families, our friends, and our neighbors. While we support the 2nd Amendment rights of all Americans to own guns, we also call for that power to be balanced with the responsibility to eliminate the chance of accidental injury or death. Farmshare Austin builds bridges between the produce grown on our 13-acre certified organic farm in Eastern Travis County and food access programs reaching food insecure communities in Central Texas. At Farmshare Austin, their mission is to grow a healthy, just and equitable local food system by increasing community food access and cultivating new farmers. Farmshare Austin envisions a future of resilient local food economies that ensures equitable access to food and to the resources needed to farm. BBM Advocate is a dedicated patient advocacy service based in Austin, committed to empowering individuals navigating the complexities of healthcare. Their mission is to provide personalized support and guidance, ensuring that patients receive the care and resources they need. With a focus on clear communication and informed decision-making, BBM Advocate strives to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare providers, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient well-being. The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Healthier Texas is a statewide nonprofit working to bring people, organizations and communities together to take action that supports health for all, now and for generations to come. Sunday Lunchbox is a non-profit organization serving the Austin community that aims for all Austin families have access to nutritious and community inspired food options. Sunday Lunchbox provides nutritious and community inspired food for those most underserved by our food system in Austin.
