Pass It On! Open Mic

A staple of the New Orleans spoken word community for nearly 15 years, Pass It On began in tribute to John T. Scott and his mantra, “Pass It On.” The show has been an incubator for many of this city’s ﬁnest artists spanning poetry, music, and visual art.

There's nothing like springtime in New Orleans! The weather is great, the people are happy, and Pass It On is in full swing! We're bringing our talents to the Contemporary Arts Center for this special event with John Lacarbiere as our poetry feature, joined by his and a few other high school students. The ever creative Clifton Faust will be our visual arts feature, and in the spirit of spring renewal, we're welcoming back the amazing Cuban sensation, Yusa, doing a solo performance on her Tres guitar. These amazing artists plus our normal cast of characters will surely be the perfect balance of intellect and ignorance to bring this spring into full bloom!The next Pass It On will take place Saturday, April 19, from 5:00 to 9 p.m., and admission is free.Plus, join us for a one-hour pre-show experience at Pass It On, led by the one and only resident DJ Chris Stylez, spinning the sounds to get you moving, connecting, and setting the tone for an unforgettable night. Whether you’re a poet, singer, musician, or just here for the vibes, come early, grab a drink, and let the music move you.
