HAL Summer Session 5: Exhibitions & Public Programs

TheHumanities Action Lab(HAL) is an internationalcoalition of universities, issue organizations, and public spacesin 40 cities, and growing, that collaborate to produce community-curated public humanities projects on urgent social issues. Students and stakeholders in each city develop local chapters of national traveling exhibits, web projects, public programs, and other platforms for civic engagement, all made possible by our visionary supporters. Projects travel nationally and internationally to museums, public libraries, cultural centers, and other spaces in each of the communities that helped create them. We always welcome new institutions to join our projects, so please get involved, or reach out if you have any questions.

Humanities Action Lab

The fifth session focuses on exhibitions and public programs. Frontline community partners will share about their EJ work &amp; public programs.

These sessions are an opportunity to hear from our partners in this moment of pandemic and anti-racist, Black Lives Matter uprisings. What we share and learn in these conversations will help us collectively reimagine our plans for the fall and shape the building blocks for HAL’s future. The fifth session will focus on exhibitions and public programs. Frontline community partners will share stories about their Environmental Justice work and the public programs they created before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The dialogue will explore how telling stories through a range of programs can build solidarities and create energy for future collective action.
