12-week Improv Course : the Basics

WHAT IS IMPROV? 🌀

Improv theatre is a performance art form where players create situations, characters and stories without any script or pre-existing plot. Improvisation is an incredibly powerful self-expression, creativity, and collective thinking tool. With founding principles such as acceptance, support, presence and listening, improv equips individuals with life-changing skills. It is also an excellent medium for trained actors to unleash their creativity and freedom on and off stage. Oh, and it's fun. Really fun.

COURSE DESCRIPTION 🗺️

This 12-week course for beginners will equip you with a solid improviser toolbox, which includes :

🤸 “Yes-and!” mindset

🎭 key theatre & public speaking techniques

🌠 Unleashed imagination

We will run this course with a minimum of 8 students. If the minimum number of participants isn't reached, we will postpone or cancel the class and refund it entirely.

SPARK Rotterdam is an English-speaking improv school, community and company based in Rotterdam, NL. We teach weekly classes, run monthly shows and spread joy like peanut butter on a broodje.

TERMS & CONDITIONS 📝

• Payment: Students are required to pay the full course fee. If a student decides to drop out of the course at any point, they will still be responsible for paying the full fee. This also applies to students with specific payment plans and sponsorship.
• Refunds: If SPARK cancels a course for any reason, a full refund will be issued to students. If one class is cancelled, we will make sure to reschedule it. We will run this course with a minimum of 8 students. If the minimum number of participants isn't reached, we will postpone or cancel the class and refund it entirely.
• Attendance: Students are expected to attend all classes unless they have an emergency or prior engagement. Students may be asked to repeat the course if they miss more than two classes.
• Individual responsibility: SPARK is not responsible for any decision made by a student to drop out of a course. Students are responsible for their own learning and progress throughout the course.
• Conduct & Safety: We strive to hold welcoming, inclusive & intentional spaces. Our classes & events are run according to our code of conduct. We expect our students, participants and audience to respect this code and SPARK's core values and act with kindness and genuine consideration towards one another.
