Join us for the 17th Annual sySTEMnow Conference on Thursday, October 29, 2020, which is being held VIRTUALLY.  The theme is Equity in STEM.

It will be held in two segments, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.</p><h3>Morning Segment, 8:30 - 10:00am</h3><p>Including Keynote Speaker Dr. Calvin Mackie, Breakout Sessions, and video vignettes of Generation STEM students.  </p><h3>Afternoon Segment, 12:00 - 1:30pm</h3><p>Including the Stemmy Awards Ceremony with Tarik Moody as MC, Breakout Sessions, and more video vignettes of Generation STEM students.  </p><h3>Breakout Session topics</h3><ul><li>Creating a Diverse STEM Workforce - Employer Perspectives</li><li>Engaging Families and Communities to ensure equity in STEM education</li><li>Discussion Sessions: STEM education in a time of distance learning</li><li>How Many &quot;Likes&quot; Does it Take to Reach STEM Equity?</li><li>Benefits of Cross-Curricular STEM Projects for Bilingual students and English language learners</li><li>What Does a Regional Commitment to Local Tech Talent Development Look Like?</li></ul><p>All registered participants of the conference will be asked to select in advance two breakout sessions they would like to attend. </p><h3><strong>What is sySTEMnow?</strong></h3><p> “sySTEM” is an acronym for Strengthening our Youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics… “now” means now!</p><p> Since 2004, sySTEMnow has become a cornerstone of STEM-related awareness in our region</p><ul><li>Creating a forum for a timely discussion of STEM issues</li><li>Exchanging best practices from existing STEM programs</li><li>Developing, promoting and implementing education-workforce partnerships</li><li>Providing networking opportunities for STEM stakeholders</li></ul><p></p><p>Read our recent blog titled,<em> Equity in STEM; a local perspective</em>, to learn about what three prominent STEM leaders in Milwaukee had to say on this topic - <a href="https://www.stemforward.org/blog-sept-2020" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.stemforward.org/blog-sept-2020</a></p><p>For additional information, contact Heather Dummer Combs at hcombs@stemforward.org</p>
