This Is My Brave Stories from Home: Hampton Roads {Virtual Event}

The mission of This Is My Brave® is to empower individuals to share their true stories about overcoming mental illness and addiction to encourage those still suffering in silence to seek help and support. Over the past seven years, This Is My Brave has become the leading national mental health storytelling 501(c)3 non-profit providing a platform for individuals in the community to share their stories of overcoming mental illness to end stigma. Nearly 1000 storytellers have presented in our shows across the country in our 70 performances to date. We’re driven by the goal to encourage people to not be afraid to speak openly about mental health issues because the more we share our stories, the more people understand that mental illness needs to be treated as we treat physical illness, they are not alone, and no one should be afraid of asking for help or seeking treatment.

Due to COVID-19, we've elected to offer our 2020 shows virtually for everyone's safety, but the stories and performances are just as important! Masks are nothing new to individuals living with mental health conditions. We often hide our pain behind the mask of a smile. This year, our storytellers are taking off their masks to share their mental health stories from home, shining a light on the hope that is recovery.<a href="https://thisismybrave.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">This Is My Brave</a> provides the leading national platform for individuals to share their stories of living successful lives despite a diagnosis of a mental health disorder through artistic expression.
