The Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA) revelatory exhibitions of works by international artists, dynamic public programs, and inclusive community partnerships will reflect the diversity of Los Angeles and the world, fostering critique of the familiar and empathy with the different.

The development of a confessional space to respond to our collective environmental distress.

The public is invited to connect, unwind and participate in the Hotline’s co-creation through a series of onsite / online workshops and discussions. The ongoing development of the prototype will be live-streamed daily via climate-crisis-hotline.live. Artists and collaborators <a href="https://spacesaloon.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Space Saloon</a> and <a href="https://creativemigration.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative Migration </a>will lead the workshop series.Thursday, August 27 11am – 12:30pm PSTSession 2: Talking/ListeningThe first step to confronting our feelings towards the Climate Crisis is through speaking about it. The public will be invited to call in to a performative phone line and share their Eco-Emotions.About Space Saloon and Creative MigrationSpace Saloon and Creative Migration are both non-profit art organizations that engage in practices to raise awareness on environmental issues through participatory workshops, artist residencies, urban interventions and social practice art.<a href="https://spacesaloon.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Space Saloon</a> is a design laboratory on the move. They are a collective of architects, artists, and researchers who work with the public in exploring new frontiers for design and education. Their pedagogical projects build communities, promote tolerance, and foster engagement through the production of transdisciplinary forms of knowledge.<a href="https://creativemigration.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative Migration</a> is a women-led, international arts organization based Los Angeles and Bangkok. Founded in 2005, their mission is to advance cultural diplomacy through art, public engagement and sustainability. Their programming builds relationships and develops collaborations through three primary strands: Artist Residencies &amp; Creative Hubs, Site-specific Installations and Transmedia Projects.About Climate Crisis Hotline:With the understanding that the Climate Crisis is deeply entwined with other ongoing injustices and struggles, we will host a safe, comfortable and non-judgmental space to verbally confront the topic of Solastasia, the paralyzing melancholia induced from environmental distress. During Field Workshop, we will prototype the Climate Crisis Hotline. Similar to a confession booth or wishing well, our multi-faceted platform seeks to validate individuals' concerns and give everyone an opportunity to participate in a community dialogue. Through a variety of outreach and engagement methods we invite members of the public to connect, unwind and respond. It is our intention to collate this ongoing research and feedback into a live-archive; both our ‘behind the scenes’ office and immersive archive of voices will form an experimental tableau of collective aural expression.IMPORTANT: For your visit to ICA LA:ICA LA is following city, state, and federal health guidelines. Your safety and that of fellow visitors and staff are of utmost importance.You will be checked in starting 15 minutes prior to the session. Please wear your own mask and maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others. You will not be allowed to participate without wearing a mask. The museum will provide the following: a face shield, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be provided. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned before and after each session.Each participant guest will be provided a seat within 6 feet of others.Please do not plan to come to the museum if you have a fever, cough, or respiratory illness. Anyone exhibiting signs of illness will not be permitted entry.Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
