Explore strategies to help your child thrive in school while distance learning (Elementary/Middle/High)

Do you have a bright child who struggles in school, whether during distance learning or in the physical classroom? Are they doing advanced math at home for fun but won’t fill out a simple worksheet at school? Has your child memorized elaborate sequences of historical events but can’t remember to turn in homework? Does your child talk about complex topics but struggle to read at grade level? You may have a twice-exceptional (2e) child! Twice-exceptional (2e) students experience both high ability and learning challenges, which presents unique challenges in the classroom, including asynchronous development that may lead to anxiety and behavior issues. Explore strategies to help your child thrive in school.About the PresentersCallie Turk and Yael Valek, founders of Resilience and Engagement for Every Learner (<a href="https://www.reelpaloalto.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">REEL</a>) as well as parents of 2e kids, present an interactive overview of 2e—what it is, why it matters, and effective approaches for supporting 2e learners. Special guest speakers Heather Johanson and Laura Kimpton from Lamborn Advocacy will join to discuss how 2e students can quality for SST/504/IEPs and specific accommodations available during distance learning.Registration closes 30 minutes prior to the workshop.
