Saving the Environment with Economic Ideas

The Thomas R. Brown Foundation seeks to advance the use of economic principles in public and private decision making through strategic partnerships and educational programs. Our program goal is to equip teachers to increase student exposure to fundamental principles of economics in a neutral and nonpartisan way, and to help students develop an appreciation of how economic analysis applies to everyday choices as well as business and policy issues.

<p>Your students will be interested to know that economics can help us understand and tackle thorny environmental challenges. This program will showcase a series of high school lesson plans created by the education specialists at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Participants will learn how to succeed with these lessons whether in a face-to-face or distance learning setting. All attendees will receive a certificate of professional development, access to digital resources, and an e-book edition of Nobel Laureate William Nordhaus’s <em>The Climate Casino: Risk, Uncertainty, and Economics for a Warming World</em>.</p>
