Then a gentle shift into the forgiveness/Selichot prayers, and deep offerings for all that has been lost. This gate creaks as we push it open. We have been here so many times, but this moment offers us its own unique awareness. The final benediction is silence.YOM KIPPUR MORNING | Monday, September 28 @ 10:30amThe journey inward continues as we enter the courtyard of the Contemplative Service. The gate is opened for us with meditation and chanting by skilled practitioners Jeffrey Kessler and Lior Tsarfaty. Focused wisdom is offered by our special guests: Joanna Macy (deep ecology scholar and author), Naomi Newman, (storyteller and Traveling Jewish Theater co-founder); and Laura Goldman (spiritual director and teacher). Our inner work is supported through beautiful chants, extended periods of silence, and gifts of deep insight. Our tradition wisely gives us the opportunity to express our sorrow in community through liturgy, chant, and the sharing of stories. We welcome this tribute to our loved ones and affirmation of the power and poignancy of remembering.The gates are closing. Have we done the necessary work of teshuvah? Are we ready to return to an ethical purposeful life and engage in righteous restorative work? Our final prayers and reflections together will build to an exuberant release of energy, our ecstatic “Yes!” Together, we can meet the challenges and opportunities of this New Year! One ticket for ALL three Yom Kippur services.Suggested donation between Chai and Chai Five ($18 – $90) per person.
