Connect with your users by learning to sketch them using simple techniques

<p>Sketching people can be daunting. In fact, it can be as daunting as understanding those folks for whom you are building your software -- your users!</p><p>In the class, we'll learn how drawing users with simple, basic shapes  builds a closer connection for you and your team with your users.</p><p>Aside from drawing users, you'll also learn how to integrate them visually into the work flow of your team.</p><h3>Who this is for</h3><p>This class  is for developers, designers, product managers, devops, testers and support folks, i.e., anyone in tech who wants to connect with their users, and wants to  be able to communicate with sketches.</p><h3>What this class covers</h3><ul><li>Drawing different styles of drawing people</li><li>Drawing faces and facial features</li><li>Drawing different types of people</li><li>How to share your drawings with your team</li><li>Embedding the user into your team's software project</li></ul><h3>What we're NOT doing</h3><p>This is not a fine art class. This is not for fine artists. There is no competition, no judgments about artistic ability and no need for fancy tools, just yourself, some paper and a pencil or pen. IPads are allowed, but we won't be providing instruction specific to drawing on them.</p><h3>What you can expect</h3><p>This is a 2.5 hour online, interactive, hands-on class. We'll take several breaks and a longer break in the middle. Attendees will be encouraged to share and trade ideas to their comfort level. Kid noise and pets wandering through is totally ok.</p><p>All attendees are required to abide by the Appear Works <a href="https://appearworks.com/code-of-conduct/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Code of Conduct</a>.</p><h3>Your facilitator</h3><p>Marlena Compton is a sketch-noter, software developer and the organizer of Let’s Sketch Tech! Marlena’s agile hat-trick of working for IBM, Pivotal and Atlassian, has left her with a life-long appreciation for quality code, empathy and working together as a team. As the CE❤️ at her company, <a href="https://appearworks.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Appear Works</a>, she organizes tech events to help you level-up, get promoted and recover from burnout.</p>
