Make art with natural materials as a way to connect with nature and engage with mindfulness.

Research shows that nature can have a significant impact on the nervous system and cortisol levels. In a time of heightened uncertainty, we will turn to art making with natural materials as a way to connect with nature and engage with mindfulness.Materials: Please collect natural materials to bring to this session. Examples include, but are not limited to leaves, twigs, rocks/pebbles and seed pods.Additionally, bring your favorite art medium (permanent markers, watercolors, oil pastels, etc.) and surface to work on (paper, canvas panel, cardboard, etc.). About Emily Liberto:Emily is a graduate Art Therapy student in her third year at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She earned her B.A. from the University of Virginia in Studio Art and Art History and her M.A.T. in Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. For the past nine years, Emily has taught art in public schools from PreK through 12th grade in Baltimore City and Arlington County. She also has experience working with children, teens and families through Project Create in Washington, D.C., as well as pediatric oncology patients at Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
