Austin Resource Recovery presents <a href="http://www.austintexas.gov/department/fix-it-austin" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fix-It at Home!</a>, an interactive, online workshop series aimed at teaching Austinites repair and maintenance skills from home. Classes range from learning sewing basics and ‘patching’ up clothes, to fixing recreational equipment and household appliances. You’ll meet and learn from a local expert who will instruct you and other Austinites during the class. Wondering how you can clean yourself up once you arrive at your destination? Looking for tips about how to be safe while commuting by bike? If this sounds like you, mark your calendar! Our instructor will teach you basic bike repairs and maintenance techniques, so you can feel more confident on your journey to becoming a sustainable commuter! Class size is limited. If you are unable to attend, please remove your registration. Class participants that live in the Austin-area will be given priority.Class Content<ul><li>Common maintenance and repairs while on the go</li><li>Quick check before you ride</li><li>Dealing with punctures</li><li>The importance of chains</li><li>Repairing yourself once you arrive: How to shower without a shower</li></ul>Materials Needed<ul><li>Bike or no bike, all are welcome</li></ul>Safety Guidelines: This class is recommended for ages 10 and up, but anyone is welcome.Meet the Instructor! John Koonz is a certified instructor with the League of American Bicyclists. He has been car-free for 10 years, and a daily cycling commuter for over 12 years. Technology: This workshop will be hosted on an online platform called WebEx. This may require downloading an application on your computer or phone. The ability to share your camera is encouraged, though is not required to participate. A link will be provided before the workshop.
