Join the <a href="https://providencechildrensfilmfestival.org/" title="https://providencechildrensfilmfestival.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Providence Children's Film Festival</a> for an all-ages screening of Song of the Sea [2014; PG; 1hr 33m]! Visit the Ocean Wonders exhibition and enjoy some popcorn, too. Open to the public. (Registration required).Eleven years ago, this breathtakingly gorgeous, hand-drawn masterpiece was created by Tomm Moore before he went on to work on The Secret of Kells and Wolfwalkers. Based on the Irish legend of the Selkies, Song of the Sea tells the story of the last seal-child, Saoirse, and her brother Ben, who go on an epic journey to save the world of magic and discover the secrets of their past. Pursued by the owl witch Macha and a host of ancient and mythical creatures, Saoirse and Ben race against time to awaken Saoirse’s powers and keep the spirit world from disappearing forever. As enthralling for adults as it is for children young and old, Song of the Sea is a wonder of magical storytelling and visual splendor that is destined to become a classic. (Rated PG for scenes of potential peril and loss of a parent.)-Providence Children’s Film Festival presents the best of independent and international children’s cinema to inspire, delight, educate, and connect a diverse community of children and families from Rhode Island and throughout New England.
