Associate curator Emily Banas explores The Art of French Wallpaper Design

<h4>The EX LIBRIS program series from the Providence Athenæum features an array of humanities scholars, authors, historians, and thought leaders, illuminating fascinating topics and inspiring the intellectually curious. EX LIBRIS programs take place at the Athenæum in front of a live studio audience and are simulcast via Zoom, as well as recorded. This is the VIRTUAL event. The histories of design, production, and use of these papers is told through the lens of RISD's Huard Collection, a group of approximately 500 wallpapers, borders, fragments, and design drawings that were all collected by one couple and acquired by the museum in 1934.Please note, only the moderated Q&amp;A portion of this program will be recorded and archived on our website.-Emily Banas is the Associate Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the RISD Museum where she has been working since 2015. She earned an MA in decorative arts, design history and material culture from the Bard Graduate Center in 2015, and an MA in art history and museum studies, with a concentration in decorative arts and design, from Georgetown University in 2012. Her research interests span from 18th to 21st century decorative arts, craft, and design.
