Join Drs. Cohen and Yanez to build strategies on the childhood years (6-12yrs) and supporting kids navigating school and social groups

We all expected fatherhood to be hard work, but this is nuts!There&#x27;s no doubt that fathering during the time of COVID-19 has some extra challenges. So, join us to support one another, build new skills, and learn together. These sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Richard Cohen and Dr. Paulo Cesar Yanez, both of whom are fathers and experienced in working with fathers and family relationships.This conversation is the 4th in a series focused on providing strategies and tools for handling the stresses of our modern times. Each session will include the following topics:<ul><li>Children’s social &amp; emotional development</li><li>Responsive parenting and engaging with your child(ren)</li><li>Emotional wellness &amp; coping skill</li><li>Communicating with your partner/co-parent</li></ul>Each session will follow this format: <ul><li>Short skill building presentation</li><li>Guided meditation</li><li>Small group connection time.</li></ul>Facilitators:Richard Cohen, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Southern California&#x27;s Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, and Policy Director of Love, Dad - a non-profit organization that works to change policy and practice in father engagement. He has spent over forty years working in diverse educational and therapeutic capacities with young children, their families, and those who support them. Richard holds a masters degree in Education from Harvard University and a doctorate in Educational Psychology from UCLA. He and his wife live in Santa Monica and have an adult son.Paulo Cesar Yanez, PsyD is a bilingual clinical psychologist and also holds a master&#x27;s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Paulo has over 10 years of experience in providing clinical services to fathers, mothers, and young children presenting with mental health difficulties and trauma-related symptoms. Paulo is a fellow of the Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship of UC Davis in Napa, CA. Paulo has provided group psychotherapy to fathers, clinical assessment, and treatment for children 0-5 and their families. Clinical practice includes different modalities such as fetal alcohol syndrome informed practice and trauma informed practice. Paulo lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 4-year-old daughter. We accomplish this through community, learning experiences, increased connection and communication with self and others, and access to guidance and resources.<a href="https://www.mensstoryproject.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Men&#x27;s Story Project</a> aims to strengthen social norms around the world that support healthy masculinities, violence prevention, and gender justice. We work toward this mission by helping local groups create powerful live story-sharing events; social media and films based on these live events; accompanying educational tools; and ongoing gender justice collectives. The MSP is rooted in a feminist, anti-racist, intersectional framework.
