Building Racial Stamina as an Antidote to White Fragility

Hosted by: Ani Mirasol, LCSWAbout Presenter:Ani Mirasol (she/they) is a sex-positive trauma therapist, body liberation activist, and intuitive healer. She helps boss babes of all genders discover their inner badass, claim their sovereign right to take up space in this world, and heal from painful pasts, difficult relationships, and sex or body violations. Fat, queer, and neurodivergent, Ani understands what it is like to live in a body that others want to erase and she absolutely refuses to shrink herself or play small for anyone.Description: “Why does everything have to be about race these days?”“I’m not racist! My friend/partner/child/co-worker is Black.”“I don’t see color.” These statements frequently arise when racial equity and white supremacy are discussed, particularly when white-passing folks try to understand what, if any, role they play in upholding and/or challenging white supremacy.During this Conversation, we will explore how our own histories of racial identity and associated meanings (power, threat, shame, pride, aggression) impact what we recognize and attend to in ourselves and our clients in session. We are most interested in making more conscious how racial identity and white supremacy shape our own sense of Self and how that overtly and/or covertly impact others. Charge:  There is no charge for this event.Note:  Space is limited to 20 (*Please note that if you cannot attend for any reason to notify us so that we can make space available to those on the waitlist.
