The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Join acclaimed New York City-based pianist, vocalist, and composer Kelly Green for an engaging and insightful masterclass on learning songs and playing in ensembles. Hailed as one of NYC's most exciting new artists and praised by Christian McBride for her joy and swing, Kelly brings her extensive experience performing with jazz legends like George Coleman, Billy Hart and many more. Kelly is an accomplished educator, teaching for the prestigious World-renowned education program Jazz House Kids for the last 10 years and has many students who have gone on to study jazz at college and have successful careers. In this masterclass, Kelly will guide participants through her method of mastering new repertoire and collaborating effectively within a group setting. Known for her intricate, lyric-driven arrangements of jazz standards and innovative original compositions, she will share techniques on:<ul><li>Efficiently learning and internalizing songs</li><li>Developing a strong sense of time and groove</li><li>Enhancing communication and empathy among musicians</li><li>Creating engaging arrangements in a small group context</li></ul>Kelly will be joined by her world-class trio featuring Evan Hyde on drums and Luca Soul Rosenfeld on upright bass, who will help demonstrate how to interact dynamically within an ensemble. The session will also include performances of selections from her albums Seems and Corner of My Dreams, offering real-world examples of how to apply these concepts on stage.Whether you're a vocalist, instrumentalist, or bandleader, this masterclass is perfect for anyone looking to improve their ability to play confidently in a group and make meaningful musical connections.
