Creative Kaleidoscope Workshop: Envisioning Self In The Year Ahead!

Teetotal Initiative is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 non-profit focused on individuals committed to a sober lifestyle.Teetotal Initiative’s inclusive and sober-focused high-quality programming addresses some of the most common causes of relapse - isolation, boredom, and loneliness. Our mission is to help individuals to sustain sobriety. Our goal is to enhance quality of life and support relapse prevention through free events, activities, and high-quality programming.​As the first-of-its-kind recreational sober community, Teetotal Initiative inspires a stigma-free and celebratory social atmosphere, promoting meaningful sobriety and community opportunities for all, regardless of their journey to recovery. We welcome all forms of recovery and are not aligned to any specific program. Teetotal Initiative does not provide support groups or professional medical services. Instead, we care for the “rest of life” that happens outside of formal treatment and group support and are a complement to anyone’s recovery toolbox.

Join us for a transformative two-part creative arts workshop on Saturday, January 4, 2025, to explore our identities and aspirations for the year ahead through art-making.​Part 1: Mask-Making - Exploring IdentityIn the first part of the workshop, we will explore both our outward personas and our inner, private selves through the creation of paper mâché masks. Using paints, collage, and other art materials, we will decorate the outside and inside of the masks, symbolizing both our public and hidden identities, and reflecting on how these parts shape who we are. Afterward, we will have a brief, optional sharing time to discuss the creative process and any insights.​Part 2: Vision Board Creation - Envisioning 2025In the second part of the workshop, we will transition into vision board-making, a powerful tool for setting intentions and goals for the new year. Using a variety of art supplies, you will create a vision board that represents what and who you want to be, experience, or do in 2025.This workshop is designed to be both revealing and healing, providing a safe, supportive space to creatively explore and set your intentions for the coming year. While this is not a therapy group, it offers therapeutic benefits through self-expression and personal reflection. All materials will be provided, and you are also welcome to bring any special images, photos, or other keepsakes/supplies that are especially inspirational to you for inclusion in the two projects. Snacks will be provided! Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot soon! Bring your friends, your creativity, and an eye to the year ahead for this afternoon of artistic fun and connection. Toal, ATR-BC, LCAT, LPC, is a registered, board-certified Art Therapist, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and owner of HeART Felt Therapy in Sharpsburg. In addition to her private art therapy practice, Julia conducts group workshops. She is also a member of the Pittsburgh Collage Collective.</h3>
