Photowalk Series: Rosebank Ramble (rescheduled from 1/25)

A vibrant cultural center, the Alice Austen House keeps the daring spirit of the early American photographer alive by showcasing the life, work, and home of Alice Austen (1866-1952). Come explore late 19th century period rooms, changing exhibitions of Austen’s work and contemporary photography, and relish the lovely waterfront grounds with panoramic views of the New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan.

Join AAH educator Kristen Bartley for a guided history tour and photowalk through Alice Austen’s neighborhood of Rosebank. The walk will commence at Austen’s historic landmarked home “Clear Comfort” and end at St. John’s Episcopal Church where AAH is presenting the traveling Smithsonian exhibition <a href="https://aliceausten.org/voices-and-votes-democracy-in-america/" title="https://aliceausten.org/voices-and-votes-democracy-in-america/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Voices and Votes</a>. Along the way we will look at some of Alice’s 19th and early 20th century photographs as we pass their locations and talk about the evolution of the neighborhood from Alice’s time to present day.
