In Novasutras, we enact change through ecospiritual community. We reawaken our deepest connection with our living world to reclaim our joy, honor our pain, grow trusted relationships, and take meaningful action in service to all life.

Novasutras Movement

This workshop equips change agents with skills to improve communication, dialogue and small-group work and large-group decision-making.

We will discuss and practice ways to facilitate information-sharing, collaboration and decision-making in groups. These interpersonal skills are vital for sustainability change agents and peacemakers. The Novasutras movement regularly invites people into conversations from which healing and justice can emerge. Every single human being is born unique. Each sees the life we share in common from a unique perspective. Each person is a place where we&#x27;ve been blind, but now could see, we&#x27;ve been deaf, but now could hear. We believe that we always see things more clearly when we are looking, with heart and mind, as a circle of people in community. How can we most productively talk with collaborators and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, to create a future we all would want? We will consider a selection of strategies synthesized from Organizational Development consultants and others for interpersonal work in industry, governance and NGOs. These techniques can allow us to effectively learn from and teach others across different values and cultures, negotiate conflicts, and facilitate effective community decision-making.This workshop will give participants opportunities to participate in small-group activities and practice some of these techniques.We are very excited to offer this workshop in partnership with <a href="https://worldunityweek.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">World Unity Week</a>. Michelle began her career as an evolutionary anthropologist. She studied the social behavior of wild bonobos in the rainforests of Congo and orangutans in Indonesia in the late 1990s. Her research watching these apes confirmed the importance of social affiliation (a step toward loving-kindness and community) in the capacity for cultural learning. What she experienced in her research in the tropical rainforests of Africa and Asia catalyzed her commitment to work for global transformation. After seeing the effects of deforestation in the tropics and looking for the underlying causes of that crisis, she began to study systems thinking and work on global Education for Sustainability – especially on transforming teaching in colleges and universities around the world. She later turned her full focus to activism and community organizing. She developed the Novasutras movement&#x27;s core ideas and online presence, recording guided meditations, and leading online and local events near her home in Santa Cruz, California.
