• A sense of community: Survivors of emotional abuse often feel isolated and alone. Support groups can provide a sense of community and belonging, where they can connect with others who have shared experiences.
• Validation: In a support group, survivors can have their experiences validated by others who understand what they are going through. This can help to reduce feelings of shame and guilt.
• Coping skills: Support groups can teach survivors coping skills to help them deal with the emotional and psychological effects of abuse.
• Hope: Support groups can provide survivors with hope for the future. By seeing other survivors who have healed and moved on, they can learn that it is possible to overcome the effects of abuse and build a happy and healthy life.
