DUG inject fresh energy into the age-old fusion of Irish folk and American old-time music .

Abhainn Studios &amp; October Nights are delighted to present the second of two intimate &amp; limited capacity shows (7pm &amp; 9pm) by acclaimed duo DUG, in Enniscrone on Friday March 21st, as part of a nationwide tour. DUG is the new musical venture of songwriter and resonator guitar player Lorkin O’Reilly and California native and clawhammer banjo player Jonny Pickett. Ask the DUG boys and they’ll say they exist somewhere between the two worlds of American old-time music and Irish folk music. Inspired by everything from country rockers 16 Horsepower to Planxty, Paul Brady, Michael Hurley and Charlie Parr, the duo draw deep from the well of folk and blues from both sides of the atlantic. Having spent the past decade in Upstate NY releasing albums and touring extensively, Lorkin O’Reilly moved to Dublin in 2022 to start a new musical chapter. Things moved quickly and DUGs debut single <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXw1fpUDkfE&amp;t=4s&amp;ab_channel=DUG" title="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXw1fpUDkfE&amp;t=4s&amp;ab_channel=DUG" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jubilee</a> was shortlisted for Grammy nominations in two categories, while second single Big Sundown featured Diarmuid MacGloinn of Ye Vagabonds. In 2024, they completed a ten date coast to coast US tour. Previous shows have included Whelans (sold out), Cobblestone, Connolly’s of Leap, Coughlans, Monroes, Dolans, Beyond The Pale, Quiet Lights, Another Love Story and Other Voices (Cardigan &amp; Dingle), Folk Alliance (Montreal). December 2024 saw the band hit the road again for an Irish tour opening for The Scratch. Their soon to be released EP and album on ‘A For Effort records’ is produced by Joshua Burnside.
