A Revolution of the Soul – Deep Democracy, Leadership &amp; the Work of Founding America, Again Five years ago, Centering Justice began with a question: What must and will transform for us to live in a just and thriving society? We've explored that question from the margins—alongside artists, activists, movement leaders, and everyday visionaries. And now, in our final episode, we bring it full circle. This closing conversation marks more than the end of a podcast season. It marks a sacred transition in leadership at NEW, as host Yodit Mesfin Johnson passes the torch to incoming CEO Will Jones III. Together with PolicyLink’s Ashleigh Gardere and co-host Kija Gray, we reflect on what it means to found a new America, where leadership is an act of soul work, democracy is reimagined through care and courage, and institutions become laboratories for transforming the future, together. Our Vision:We see a future where justice is no longer a distant ideal but a living, breathing reality in the everyday lives of people. A world where liberation, equity, and systemic change are at the center of all decision-making processes, and where individuals, communities, and organizations are active participants in creating a more just and inclusive society.More people are willing to practice generative conflict which only works if we can witness for each other truths, and we may not always agree.. There's a relationship and responsibility to each other, and our collective wellbeing, not just our individual ideologies. BaldwinOur goal is to move participants from awareness to action by connecting them with others who are practicing the work of deep democracy. As a result of shifting from intention to impact, people feel moved from individual insight to collective power. Through engaging conversations with guests, practical resources and tools, and sharing experiences, participants will leave with skills, strategies, and courage to challenge oppressive systems. This season of Centering Justice is about creating ripple effects that go beyond individual transformation. We envision:<ul><li>Communities that embrace justice as a core value, where decisions are made with the most vulnerable in mind, and where equity is embedded in every aspect of daily life. </li><li>Organizations that adopt justice-centered practices—not just in rhetoric but in real, actionable ways. From hiring practices to program design, justice becomes the guiding star for organizational development. </li><li>A generation of leaders who lead with integrity, courage, and accountability, ensuring that justice is never sidelined or sacrificed in pursuit of comfort or convenience. </li><li>A society that moves toward true liberation, where systemic injustices are dismantled, and all people have access to opportunity, freedom, and joy.</li></ul>This season will leave participants not just inspired but equipped to be architects of a new world—one where justice is the foundation of everything we do. <h3>In Centering Justice:</h3><ul><li>We move with possibility and potential - we know what is, but what could be? We hold faith and the belief that the future will be different.
