Contemplating 400 Years of Inequality Facilitator Training LEVEL III

For the last decade, Angel Acosta has worked to bridge the fields of leadership, social justice and mindfulness. He recently received his doctorate in the Curriculum and Teaching Department at Teachers College, Columbia University. Angel has supported educational leaders and their students by facilitating leadership trainings, creating pathways to higher education, and designing dynamic learning experiences. His dissertation explores healing-centered education as a promising framework for educational leadership development.After participating in the Mind and Life Institute’s Academy for Contemplative Leadership, he began consulting and developing learning experiences that weave leadership development, conversations about inequality and healing to support educational leaders through contemplative and restorative practices. As a former Trustee for the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society, he participated as a speaker and discussant at the Asia Pacific Forum on Holistic Education in Kyoto, Japan. Angel continues to consult for organizations like the NYC Department of Education, UNICEF, Columbia University and others.He is the CEO and Principal Consultant at Acosta Consulting, where hedesigns and facilitate healing-centered and contemplative-based learning experiences for organizations interested in exploring issues of difference, inequality, racial equity, and well being.

We understand the current moment is impacting us all financially.***Must complete Level I &amp; Level II Trainings to participate This LEVEL III training is a culminating experience. This training builds on the knowledge and concepts explored in Level I &amp; Level II. Drawing on the 400 Years of Inequality and on the community that has been built with participants across all the trainings, this experience will support participants with continuing to deepen their skillset in regards to holding space to explore issues concerning structural inequality from a contemplative perspective. This last training covers research on post-traumatic growth and the science of interconnection to expand on the already existing research and resources that each training curates. These trainings harness the power of the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of enslaved Africans to U.S. in 1619. Participants learn how facilitate a contemplative learning experience that holds the complexity of diverse perspectives and walks community members through history in order to process our collective past for our present healing.
