ERIC LAU is an alumnus of NYU's prestigious Graduate Film Program. He is also the president of Solar Productions (www.solarnyc.com), a full-service production company established 30 years ago, working on features films, documentaries, and has produced and directed many award-winning international TV commercials for Snapple, Toyota, China Unicom, and Blue Man Group among others.Hestarted a successful filmmaking workshop and summer camp for aspiring young filmmakers in 2009.His workshops have been endorsed by the 3-time Oscar winning director Ang Lee, who made Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, and Crouching Tiger."Eric's workshop should take you to a new level of excellence and open up great possibilities." Solar’s afterschool program offers children ages 13-18 enormous fun and a great learning experience. Kids will work in teams to learn how to write, shoot, edit, and direct films. We offer a hands-on filmmaking workshop, promoting storytelling in a fun, textbook-free environment.Schedule: Thursdays, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PMThursdays: 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 11/26, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17Tuition:Thursdays- $1,000 (15 classes)Our philosophy is “they teach, we inspire.” The kids will be using professional filmmaking equipment while learning teamwork, expressing their thoughts, and developing their voice. Our experienced teachers will make sure students walk away from the program having had a ton of fun and laughs, having gained valuable experience, and with a complete short film created through their own artistic vision.Kids grow up fast.
