Please join us for the Turkish- Style Brunch on Sunday, December 8th, 2024 at 11:00 am to celebrate International Human Rights Day through a delicious Turkish brunch. We will have a speaker, Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow Attorney at NMILC, who will be sharing her thoughts about the subject. We look forward to seeing you.ABOUT THE SPEAKER:Bella Bjornstad2024 Justice FellowsNew Mexico Immigrant Law CenterUniversity of New Mexico School of LawBella began working with detained asylum seekers as an extern, offering support, elevating their voices, and advocating for their release. Through this work she developed a thorough understanding of the systemic injustice to which people seeking protection in the U.S. are subjected. Bella came to IJC to continue this work, to grow as a legal advocate for immigrants, and to develop a professional community dedicated to ending the systemic injustices facing immigrants in the U.S. She will work at the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center, representing detained asylum seekers, delivering legal orientations, and engaging in systemic advocacy in New Mexico.
