WCCMA was founded in 2008 as the Summer Concert Series at Union Church as an organization presenting outstanding musical performers. In the fall of 2011 SCSUC official adopted the identity of the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts and expanded to include music and arts programs. Workshops are available in a variety of disciplines, and are offered for the general public and/or youth. We are committed to improving access to the arts by offering programs with no admission charge so that no one is excluded from participating based on financial factors.WCCMA provides professional perfomances and arts education; much of it with admission by optional donation. Programs are offered for youth and the general public of all experience levels.

WCCMA is pleased to welcome back Ida Mae Specker for an evening of folk and original music at the new downtown Claremont Creative Center.This special concert will feature John Specker, (fiddle, banjo, vocals), as well as Ida Mae’s frequent collaborators Mowgli Giannitti (bass, vocals), and Sam Merwin (guitar, mandolin, vocals). The performance will highlight original material in addition to creative, high-energy arrangements of traditional old-time tunes, bluegrass and country songs.The concert will be followed by a Q&amp;A with the artists.Tickets are pay-what-you-can! Suggested at $5-25 (households on a budget), or $25-60+ (I've got money and want to make a difference!). Support live music in this unique intimate venue by attending and offering whatever amount works for your houshold.Please note that there will be no outside audio/video recording allowed at this event.

Ida Mae Specker is an old-time fiddler, folk singer, and songwriter from Andover, Vermont.A longtime member of family band The Speckers, Ida Mae learned to play fiddle at a very early age from her father, John Specker. Vermont Public Radio's Robert Resnik calls the Specker family "Vermont Folk Heroes." The Speckers are renowned for “playing a rambunctious version of old-time music that owes as much to punk rock as Appalachia, at least in attitude.” (Seven Days VT).Ida Mae’s EP of original music, ‘Billy in the Heartland,’ was released in December 2019. Specker released a new EP in October 2023, a live session recorded at the church in Peru, VT, by Dan Rome and Austin Burrell (Future Fields).
