Dr. Marmon is a Clinical Sales Specialist with LightForce Therapy Lasers. In 2017, he joined the team at LightForce, adding his expertise in human movement and physiology, serving as part of the Clinical Support Team with LightForce the medical division of LiteCure, LLC.Dr. Marmon’s expertise in physiology was developed through degrees in Exercise and Sports Science and Motor Control from the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in the Neurophysiology of Movement Laboratory from the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon completing his doctoral training, he returned to his alma mater as a postdoctoral fellow in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of Delaware, studying biomechanics and conducting clinical outcomes research. His research was conducted both as a Primary Investigator and collaboratively across a range of topics and laboratories, including injury prevention, rehabilitation post-ACL reconstruction, and total joint replacements. Dr. Marmon worked his way up to the rank of Assistant Professor with an appointment in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. He has co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at various national and international conferences.Dr. Marmon's clinical interests include the use of laser therapy in the management of pain, inflammation, and recovery from soft tissue damage, with particular focus on proper dosing of light energy to maximize the therapeutic effects of light therapy.

The goal of this club to have an informal discussion of a published article and to improve our understanding of the utility, application, and expectations of laser therapy.This week’s article is:Chatterjee 2019. Effect of deep tissue laser therapy treatment on peripheral neuropathic pain in older adults with type 2 diabetes: a pilot randomized clinical trial (<a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31405365/?from_term=chatterjee+2019+laser&amp;from_pos=3" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">view abstract</a>).We will present a brief overview of the article. After the overview, we will discuss the findings in the context of using laser therapy in the clinic. We encourage all attendees to review the article ahead of time and bring your own questions and comments. Below are a few suggested questions to consider for the discussion.<ol><li>What did you take away from the study?</li><li>What (if anything) did you find surprising or conflicting with your current understanding of laser?</li><li>Offer up one question related to methodology or take home.</li></ol>For a deeper dive, consider looking deeper into plan of care, dosages, and outcomes examined.
