On June 2, 1875, a group of art students had the radical idea to create their own art school—one designed for and run byindependent artists.These students broke away from theNational Academy of Design and started the Art Students League of New York—an atelier-style institution whereanyone with an interest in art education can learn traditional fine art technique.Withmore than 100 classes taught in-studio and online, League students make art from day one. League artistslearn by doing, under the guidance of professional artist instructors. Free from a set curriculum and restrictive grading system, League students can focus on making art.There are no applications or prerequisites. Members' Business Meetings allow League Members to participate in decisions by voting on issues and electing the Board of Control.

The next Members Business Meeting of the Art Students League of New York is scheduled on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 6 PM. This meeting will have a hybrid format – attendees have the choice to attend online via Zoom or in person at the League. <ul><li>In-person voting will take place on December 11, 6 – 8 PM during the Members Meeting</li><li>All mail-in ballots must be received by Withum by December 10</li><li>Electronic voting will remain open until December 11 at 8 PM</li><li>Results will be announced the day after the last poll closes</li></ul> <a href="https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_l-cDOAcMS0qCZIGRqKZpmw" title="https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_l-cDOAcMS0qCZIGRqKZpmw" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Register to attend online.</a> Members' Business Meetings allow League Members to participate in key decisions by voting on important issues.
