A welcoming space for people of any drawing level to gather and draw. Featuring a still life setup, ideal for beginners and a stepping stone toward life drawing. Offering a relaxed environment for a few hours of creative expression each week.
Learn about: perspective, composition, lighting and shading, how to measure proportions and the importance of line weights.
Those who attend are encouraged to bring their own art supplies or use the resources that we have at Sovern (paper, charcoal sticks, pencil, pen, markers, etc)
Materials list:
*Note: these materials are NOT required to participate in the drawing session
-traveling easel (tripod)
-drawing board (preferably 20x24, wouldn’t recommend anything smaller than 14x17)
-pencil or charcoal pencil
-pencil sharpener (if you're using regular pencils)
-pencil knife (if you plan to use charcoal pencils)
-eraser
-kneaded eraser
-Drawing pad preferably 20x 24 (we can provide 14 x 17)
-Optional: any water based medium (ink, watercolor, gouache, acrylic)
*if you plan on using any water based medium make sure that the drawing pad you’re using can handle it, meaning you’ll need to buy either watercolor paper or mix medium paper
* NO OIL PAINT
Feel free to bring your dinner or snacks!
