Hawai‘i Friends of Restorative Justice (formerly Hawai’i Friends of Justice & Civic Education) –a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (NGO) established in 1980 that is committed to advancing civic behavior and improving the justice system.Hawai'`i Friends of Restorative Justice (HFRJ) works to help individuals and organizations live cooperatively & peacefully. When social injustice and wrongdoing occurs it provides healing and reconciliation processes. HFRJ provides training for schools, courts, hospitals, prisons, government agencies, NGOs, and others based on a group’s unique needs for peacemaking and conflict management. It researches, writes, and publishes about its projects in order to contribute to best practices and evidence-based knowledge about what can help increase peace, civic engagement, and healing for individuals and communities.

Hawai‘i Friends of Restorative Justice (HFRJ) is hosting a series of online workshops

Hawai‘i Friends of Restorative Justice (HFRJ) is hosting a series of online workshops that will address how public systems could better serve citizens with solution-focused planning and action. Among the planned topics: education, administration of justice, and child welfare. Proceeds from the series will support HFRJ's work to provide higher education for imprisoned women in Hawai‘i.The upcoming workshops will feature internationally renowned speakers who will address these issues in an interactive format. After short lectures smaller breakout sessions will allow participants to discuss the issues and ways they can promote positive systemic changes in their communities.Our first workshop is June 9, 2020 with Ellen Langer, PhD., psychology professor, Harvard University, who describes her work as the “psychology of possibility.” The workshop will begin at 2:30 pm and end at 4:00 pm Eastern Time. Dr. Langer is onsidered the mother of mindfulness, having researched the topic for over forty years. Among her other honors, she is the recipient of four Distinguished Scientist Awards and the Liberty Science Genius Award.
