Dr. Elyse Sullivan received her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, focusing on translational electrophysiological biomarkers in schizophrenia. After completing her dissertation, Dr. Sullivan joined Ripple Effect Communications where she held the position of Science Policy Analyst, and then Project Director, leading numerous projects for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In 2018 Dr. Sullivan joined the Office of Extramural Research (OER) within the NIH where she leads the Strategic Communications team. In this capacity, Dr. Sullivan oversees communication activities including websites, blogs, social media, newsletters, and multimedia training tools. Dr. Sullivan also contributes to legislative responses and inquiries from the media on behalf of OER. Dr. Erin McClure Carroll

I completed my PhD in microbiology and immunology from UMB in early 2019. Soon after defending my dissertation, I worked as a regulatory medical writer in the medical device industry. After 6 months, I transitioned into publication planning, a field in the pharmaceutical industry focused on facilitating scientific publications from clinical trials. I am currently an Associate Medical Publications Manager at Excerpta Medica, an international scientific communications agency, where I manage publications activities for a client in the respiratory therapeutic area.Dr. Sarah Ellinwood

Dr. Ellinwood received her BS in Biology from Roanoke College in 2012 and her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in August 2017. Following graduation, she began working as a medical writer for a Bethesda-based CRO called Technical Technologies International (TRI), which offers a variety of services to different organizations, with a primary focus on the NIH. Currently she works at Verge Scientific Communications as an Associate Analyst and Medical Writer alongside a team of seasoned communication professionals to help up-and-coming biotech companies craft and tell their scientific stories.
