Trainings have been developed by the CSSW COVID-19 Action Team that includes a group of faculty and administrators who represent various aspects of social work practice, programming and policy.For more information on CSSW COVID-19 see the website <a href="https://blogs.cuit.columbia.edu/cssw-covid19resources/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HERE.</a> The Psychoeducational Trainings: Psychoeducational models draw on an evidence-based approach and can be adapted for multiple settings and populations. The approach can be tailored to fit specific circumstances, and focuses on a learning exchange between facilitator and participant. It is strengths-based and attends to coping, stress management, increased insight, grief and loss, social support, and personal and community advocacy, while maintaining a social justice and anti-oppressive perspective.<h2> Webinar Description</h2>Social support is among the most important aspects of human relationships and a central component of healing and wellness. This training is designed to examine social support—an exchange of assistance through social relationships— in its many forms, and as it has become at once compromised, yet more important than ever amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We will examine the impact that the pandemic has had on our ability to connect socially and the consequences of this impact; and explore how we may help individuals, families, and communities to maintain, restore and strengthen social networks as we adapt to new social norms with resilience.Objectives: After completing this training participants will be able to:<ul><li>Name and identify forms of informal and formal supports; and predominant theories informing the role of social support in health and mental health. </li><li>Describe the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic has compromised social support across cultures while forcing new, emerging meaning and types of support.</li><li>Describe, use, and train others in the use of an online social support network mapping tool (SSNM) developed for evidence-based health promotion interventions and social work practice.</li></ul><h2>Presenter(s):</h2>Dr. Susan S. Please plan accordingly to log-in on time and remain for the duration of the event. There is a 10 minute grace period at at the start or end of the webinar. Participants who do not meet the attendance requirements will not receive a CE certificate. Evaluation and Certificate forms will be distributed via email within 2-5 business days of the event ending to those meeting the attendance requirements above.
