"How has the experience of the pandemic influenced how you think about food?"

NOFA is partnering with the Vermont Folklife Center's Listening in Place project as they work to document the experiences of Vermonters during the pandemic. Story Circles are a way to share what we're going through individually while also bearing witness to the experience of others. These online gatherings of 6-8 people will be recorded and saved in the VFC's archive for posterity, but in this moment they offer a way to listen deeply and stay connected to our communities at this difficult time.

In this special session for the NOFA community you are invited to share about how your experience during this pandemic is influencing how you think about food, though you are by no means limited to that topic. This event is free and open to any and all NOFA members. There is no need to prepare, just bring a willingness to share your thoughts and listen in return.

How a virtual story circle works:

-We will email you a link to join an online video conference using the WebEx platform. You don’t need to download anything.

-VFC staff will provide a brief introduction and overview of the story circle process

-Everyone in the circle will introduce themselves (circles are limited to 10 participants)

-Everyone will have time to share a story or response related to the prompt. There’s no wrong way to do this; share whatever is true for you.

-As a group, we listen respectfully to everyone’s story, offering no cross-talk or advice, only active and compassionate listening.

-At the end, we take time to discuss and process what we heard as a group.
