Daring Stories: In Over My Head

Online event
Wednesday, July 22, 2020  •  6 PM - 9 PM PDT
Overview

Live storytelling on themes such as overcoming obstacles, finding personal courage, and working to make a more equitable world.

Daring Stories is a live storytelling event from The New Narrative. Through a mix of open mic and featured storytellers, each night will explore a new theme on the concept of daring; such as overcoming obstacles, dealing with challenges, finding personal courage, and working to make a more equitable world.

This month’s theme is In Over My Head. Have you ever bitten off more than you can chew? Made a commitment that you had no business making? Or just put yourself in a situation that required you to rise to the occasion? We want to hear all about it! What inspired you to make the leap? What was the outcome? Were you able to see it through, or did you have to bow out, gracefully or ungracefully?

Whether you have a story to share or just want to listen, we’d love to have you join us. Open mic stories are 5 minutes. Featured storytellers get 8 minutes. If you’re interested in being a featured storyteller you can get more info here.

Each event will include a storytelling workshop an hour before the actual show too. If you’re feeling nervous or unsure, the workshop will provide an opportunity to learn more about storytelling and practice in a lower-stakes setting.

The world needs powerful storytellers now more than ever. Through sharing the stories of what matters to us most we learn about ourselves, grow as leaders, build community, and craft the narrative for the world we want to live in.

Come join us to see first hand how powerful storytelling can be!

Schedule:

Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Workshop begins at 6 p.m.

Show begins at 7 p.m.

Rates:

Show: $8 in advance, $10 at the door

Show + Workshop: $25 in advance, $30 at the door

*A "Pay What You Can" option will also be available as we all do what we can to weather through the COVID-19 shutdown.

Online via Zoom. We’ll send out the link shortly before the event to everyone who’s registered.
