The Black Artist Fair is an educational and interactive event designed to connect Black creatives from the Greater Baltimore Area to resources and services to further enhance their crafts and careers. The Black Artist Fair curates a space specifically for Black creatives to combat the issues of equity around access to resources and opportunities.The fair features a resource fair, marketplace, workshops, panels, art labs, and free headshots.

Workshop: Mastering Marketing to Build Your Brand

In this dynamic and interactive workshop, participants will explore the essential techniques and strategies to ace their next audition. Dominic Gladden, an experienced actor and coach, will guide attendees through key aspects of preparation, performance, and presentation. From selecting the right material to mastering cold reads and handling audition nerves, this workshop is designed to empower performers with the confidence and skills needed to make a lasting impression in any audition room.

Art Lab: The Art of Auditioning

This workshop is designed for artists of all disciplines who work in community, and are considering a Master's Degree specializing and expanding their network, reach, and opportunity in this field. MICA's MFA Community Arts Program (also known as MFACA), now approaching its 20th year in existence, has become a career launchpad for many community artists who live and work in Baltimore. Many of the alumni have graduated and established their own local Arts Education non-profit organizations, curated exhibitions and/or worked in galleries and museums, work as intergenerational educators, and/or community muralists. Come to this workshop for a deeper understanding of how arts, activism, and liberatory pedagogy unite to create a blueprint for working with Baltimore's residents.

Workshop:  Increasing Impact in Community Art at MICA

This interactive workshop introduces the 3-Ds of Board Governance: Duty of Care, Duty of Responsibility, and Duty of Obedience. Participants will explore key roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members, gaining practical insights for effective and ethical leadership. Ideal for current and aspiring board members seeking governance excellence.

Think you're stuck with boring templates? Allow us to show you how to make Canva work for YOU. In this Art Lab session, we're diving into the art of the remix – turning basic templates into custom designs that scream your brand's personality while saving you precious time and energy.

Artists will hear from three panelists who steward funding pools for independent artists. Each panelist is an expert in their giving program and will provide insight into how decisions are made, the timeline of grant proposals, tips and tricks to an exciting proposal, and how to craft a story that truly reflects the work that artists do in 500 words or less.

This engaging panel brings together creatives who have made significant contributions to Baltimore's arts scene through their unique curatorial practices. Panelists will discuss their curatorial approaches and explore the role of curators as vital connectors between art and audience. The conversation will delve into how the evolving landscape of Baltimore's arts and culture scene is shaping creative expression. Panelists will reflect on how creating their own curated spaces has transformed their work and the ways in which artists and curators are challenging institutions to rethink how art is presented. Audience members will be encouraged to critically consider their own roles as artists and the broader influence they can have in shaping the city's cultural narrative through curatorial work.

This workshop presented by Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts will cover common legal issues for creative small businesses and empower artists to know when it is time to talk to an attorney.

Workshop: Don't DIY This: When is it time to talk to an attorney?

Led by youth who serve on the Youth As Resources Board of Directors, this workshop encourages youth and young adults up to 23 years old to participate and learn about Youth As Resources (YAR) grant guidelines and the application process for funding. YAR funds community organizing projects, institutional change strategies, and social enterprises that are created and led by youth, address critical community issues, and have a well-thought-out plan and budget. Join us to learn how to write a grant! Grantseekers are required to attend the workshop to be eligible for funding consideration from Youth As Resources.

Workshop: Securing Funding for Youth Led Projects (YOUTH ONLY)

A block of time for creatives to work on a piece of art. Session will be broken into creative sprints for people to dedicate time to move forward a creative project. At the end, participants will share out their progress.

This workshop is intended to assist poets with identifying the emotional journey within their work and utilizing it effectively in order to connect deeper with themselves and their audience.

Art Lab: Feeling Our Feelings: Tracing the Emotional Journey in Our Poems

The Baker Artist Portfolios were created to support artists and promote Greater Baltimore as a strong creative community. The online portfolios expose area artists' work to regional, national, and international audiences. The Baker Artist Awards provide $90,000 annually in monetary prizes to awardees, who are selected from artists with active Baker portfolios.  
The portfolios and awards were established by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund and are a program of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.

This session, provides a program and technical overview, instructions on using the site, along with tips and pointers on creating a strong portfolio. 

If you are an artist in any discipline over 21 years of age, living and working in Baltimore or the five surrounding counties, this session is for you! 

Workshop: BAKER AWARD - Info Session Resources for Creatives

From 2-5pm, in 30 minute increments, we will provide direct career coaching to creatives who are looking to get support on their next steps - especially those looking to grow and expand in Television and Film.

Join us for an interactive panel designed to support artists who want to work with Baltimore City Public Schools. Whether you are a teaching artist, wants to learn more about becoming a certified arts teacher, or want to do business with the school district, this session will provide you with points of contact and a roadmap.
