This class will be held online. Class size is limited to 16.

Who will sweat the details if we don't? This one-day workshop will help take your typography skills to the next level of nerdery. Learn about intricate typographic hierarchies and fine-tune long passages of text. Get friendly with OpenType features and the Glyph palette. Dive deep into dashes and hang your punctuation. We'll even cover how some concepts can be applied to the web. Train your eyes to see like a seasoned typographer, your readers will thank you. Required Materials:A computer or laptop with Adobe InDesign installedAmy Papaelias is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at SUNY New Paltz, where she teaches web design, typography, and senior thesis. She has written for Adobe Create magazine, Typographica.org and TypeNetwork, among many other type and design-related publications. When not social distancing, you can find her speaking about her research and teaching at conferences and events such as American Printing History Association conference, the Type Directors Club, and TypeCon. She helps keep the lights on at Alphabettes.org, a network that supports and promotes the work of women in type and the lettering arts.
