Webinar outline: Vertical dimension of occlusion is an important occlusal concept that plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of many clinical presentations. This lecture will review determination of vertical dimension of occlusion, the mechanisms of its loss, and the techniques for its increase or recovery. Both clinical care elements and research basis will be given prominence.Webinar objectives:<ul><li>to review biologic basis for the concept of vertical dimension of occlusion</li><li>to review methods of determining ideal vertical dimension of occlusion</li><li>to review mechanisms for loss of vertical dimension of occlusion</li><li>to review techniques for increase or recovery of vertical dimension of occlusion</li><li>to highlight differences in approach to changes in vertical dimension of occlusion in a fixed and removable treatment environment </li></ul>Speaker bio: David Chvartszaid is both a Prosthodontist and a Periodontist. He is the director of the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at the University of Toronto and the dentist-in-chief at Baycrest Hospital.
