Philippine Independence Virtual Celebration

Since 1997, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) has been the standard bearer for promoting the welfare and well-being of the four million Filipinos and Filipino Americans throughout the United States. As a non-partisan and non-profit organization, NaFFAA is the largest national affiliation of Filipino American institutions, umbrella organizations, and individuals. Its thirteen-member regions cover the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands.

The celebration will include Filipino entertainment - dance, singing, attire and food from Colorado Filipino vendors.

The Philippine Independence day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines that commemorates the freedom and independence from Spanish colonial rule. The Philippines observes the day on June 12, but this year the Rocky Mountain Region will do a virtual celebration on June 27, 2020.The virtual audience can donate and all funds will go to local and to the Philippine disaster relief fund. NaFFAA Rocky Mountain Region helps pioneer and facilitates some of the biggest programs and also includes some distinguishing accomplishments: •	Creation of the Disaster Relief Fund – was established to assist victims of various catastrophes in the Philippines including COVID-19 pandemic assistance. The Philippines has suffered from an inexhaustible number of deadly typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other natural disasters. This is due to its location along the Ring of Fire, and typhoon belt – a large Pacific Ocean region where many of Earth’s volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. Recently, 300 masks were donated to victims of Taal volcanic eruption that started on January 12th, 2020.
