About the eventOur new initiative, the Made in Hungary Film Festival, is a celebration of Hungarian film culture and a promotional event series for the Hungarian film industry. The mission of the brand new festival is to introduce the diversity and richness of contemporary Hungarian cinema to the Los Angeles audience. Moviegoers will have the opportunity to discover the freshest films across various genres and themes that have attracted significant audiences in theatres and online, as well as those that have received critical acclaim.Made in Hungary is not just about films; it is about building bridges between cultures, sharing stories that touch our hearts, and experiencing the unique perspectives that Hungarian cinema and film industry have to offer. The film festival is organized by the National Film Institute of Hungary, in collaboration with the Liszt Institute New York. About the movieSome Birds revolves around Béla, who feels like the world is conspiring against him when his son places him in a nursing home. Here, they cross paths with a rebellious teenager Zoé, who has been sentenced to community service. While Zoé desperately tries to connect with her single mother, Béla wants to prove to everyone that he can live independently so that he can go home. Despite the almost sixty-year gap between them, their similarities and loneliness turn them into allies. Some Birds tells the tale of a friendship transcending age barriers, and sheds light on the underrepresented social issue of how we process aging.
