The Potomac River Jazz Club is a nonprofit society whose purpose is to preserve, encourage and promote the playing and appreciation of traditional jazz. Rosensteel Hall

Just back from playing the Nashville live music scene including Rudy’s Jazz Room, the National Museum of African-American Music, and the Music City Jazz Jam, The Capital Focus Jazz Band brings youthful energy to Traditional Jazz favorites. The band members are the nationally acclained youth program of the Potomac River Jazz Club. and the group has been wowing crowds for three decades. CFJB was one out of only five youth groups selected from hundreds of international applicatnts to spend 10 days studying with the top names in jazz at the prestigious Jazz Aspen Snomass Academy in Colorado. CFJB took first place in their division at the Traditional Jazz Youth Band Festival in Sacramento, and has graduated players who continue as pro musicians.The concert will include the music of Jelly Roll Morton, early Duke Ellington, Clarence Williams, Eubie Blake, Lu Watters, Fats Waller and much more, including some familiar favorites and a brass band second line.The Capital Focus Jazz Band (CFJB, formerly known as the Federal Focus Jazz Band) is the Youth Learning Program of the Potomac River Jazz Club. Founded in 1988, CFJB has performed at receptions for the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of State and many other dignitaries. CFJB has been led by Dave Robinson since its founding. Dave is an active jazz performer, historian, and educator. On trumpet, cornet, bass trumpet, valve trombone, and vocals, he has performed and toured with the top traditional and swing bands in the Washington DC area, and he currently leads the Conservatory Classic Jazz Band. Current CFJB members include Andrew Grabowski (George Mason U.) on banjo and guitar, Minh Vo (Rockville HS) on piano, Vinesh Sridhar (U. of Maryland graduate) on trumpet, Ashley Hsu (U. of Maryland graduate) on clarinet, Hudson Tao (Wheaton HS) on drums, Grace Tifford (U. of Maryland) on tuba, and Quinn Sarracco (U. of Maryland graduate) on tuba.Rosensteel Hall has ample free parking, is 4 blocks from the Forest Glen Metro, has a full cash bar, plenty of seating and a GREAT dance floor. Come on out and see why the PRJC has stood strong for 52 years, bringing live traditional jazz to the DC area.
