YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Virtual STEM Week for Middle School Students!!

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is offering a Virtual STEM Week for Middle School Students in honor of Earth Day during the week of April 20th - 24th. Each day, we will provide a STEM activity for participants using Facebook Live and Microsoft Teams Meeting as a learning platform. Our objective is to provide students extended learning opportunities to continue fostering innovation and creativity. Listed below are the STEM activities for each day and the supplies needed to prepare prior to the live instruction. Remember, some STEM activities may require adult approval. It's STEM Time! Register Today!<h2>Virtual STEM Week Schedule</h2>Monday , April 20th - Recyclable Race Cars (Facebook Live)Supplies Needed: Cardboard (small and large pieces), scissors, paintbrush &amp; paint (optional), two wooden skewers/sticks, three bendy straws, pen, four bottle tops, balloon, sticky tape, double sided tapeTuesday, April 21th - Create Comic Photo Gallery (Microsoft Team Meetings)Supplies Needed: Download Microsoft Teams App, mobile device or camera &amp; imaginationWednesday, April 22nd - Build Water Filter (Facebook Live)Supplies Needed: Plastic 2-liter bottle, scissors, spoon, cotton balls, small clean pebbles, crushed charcoal, sand, soil, small gravel, medium size gravel, pitcher, leaves and grassThursday, April 23rd - Build DNA Model (Facebook Live)Supplies Needed: Four different color highlighters, ruler, pencil, colored tape, scissors, white paperFriday, April 24th - Debut Comic Photo Gallery (Microsoft Team Meetings)Supplies Needed: Download Microsoft Teams App, mobile device or laptop for streaming photos(Please note: Comic Photo Gallery will also be streamed on Facebook after debut.)
