While the COVID-19 pandemic’s health concerns are the world’s main priority, we cannot ignore the economic disaster trailing in its wake. The lack of affordable housing was already an entrenched problem prior to the pandemic and will be exacerbated by the unprecedented levels of unemployment and loss of income being experienced. Faced with this challenge, the NYC DOB maintains affordable housing projects are essential construction during the pandemic. This problem will require all hands on deck to offer solutions. By exploring the tenets of such practices as co-living, public-private partnerships, and placemaking we hope to shed light on a healthy way for our communities to emerge from the pandemic. Participants will learn about and understand how the COVID-19 pandemic is influencing affordable housing projects currently being worked on.Participants will learn about and understand how the COVID-19 pandemic will influence the future landscape of affordable housing.Participants will learn about resources for further developing their understanding of housing and public health. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out the attendees a day or two before the event. Maximum participants: 100AIA Credits: 1.5 LU/HSW
