Join us for <a href="https://www.cxw24.co/" title="https://www.cxw24.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Chicago Exhibition Weekend 2024</a> powered by Gertie and EXPO Chicago for special evening extended gallery hours to view our current exhibition, <a href="https://www.camcontemporarie.com/whats-on/revisionist-history" title="https://www.camcontemporarie.com/whats-on/revisionist-history" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Revisionist History</a> and enjoy a performance from classically trained violinist, <a href="https://windyindie.com/" title="https://windyindie.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Windy Indie</a> at 6PM. Refreshments will be served.About Revisionist Historycam.contemporarie presents, Revisionist History, the first solo exhibition in Chicago by Providence based artist, Tyanna J. Buie. Revisionist History features works appropriated and reappropriated from 17th Century Dutch engraved portraits of political leaders. In collaboration with ChatGPT, their history and stories are rewritten and reimagined as a triumphant narrative that considers the irreparable geographical and socio ecological ramifications of colonialism.With an acknowledgement of Afro-Futurism, the use of technology enables Buie to consider alternate inclusive versions of the world where the invisible is made visible. Through the use of video, print media, painting, drawing, collage, screen-printing, and Deep-Fake technology constructed from excerpts derived from social media and Black popular cultural platforms, Buie alters the images to reflect the contemporary condition. Using accessible tools such as smartphone applications like ReFace, she constructs an intersectional identity between self-portraiture, personal narrative, family history, pop-culture, Black cultural significant moments, social movements. This process of questioning authorship allows Buie to challenge her personal history through the retelling of past and current events, while remaking images, sound, and text to reimagine the future.About Windy IndieWindy Indie is a classically trained violinist from the West Side of Chicago whose versatility on the violin is rooted in her humble beginnings. Since picking up the violin as her principal instrument in 6th grade at K.I.P.P. Ascend Charter School, she has become passionate about music and encouraging others to believe in themselves.Now focusing on the fusion genre of Classical and Hip-Hop, Windy has been continuing her education in Chicago’s City College Music Education programs. With sounds reminiscent of Jazz musicians and Chicago’s Artistic flavor, she developed an aspiration to bridge the gap between music and education as a tool to empower all demographics into believing in themselves.Windy has performed on Fox TV’s hit show Empire, and in spaces such as Chicago’s Blues Festival, the House of Blues, and a plethora of private venues and shows. With dreams of opening a music school and ideals helmed in philanthropy, Windy Indie strives to connect with people on a universal scale in unity.
