One Step at a Time – Creating Vibrant, Active Communities

This session will give attendees the tools necessary to build active and transit accessible communities.

This webinar is one in a series of four sessions hosted by the RTA in place of the Annual Planning Workshop because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These four free webinars will provide the guidance, insight, and tools necessary to facilitate transit-oriented development and transit accessible communities. Participants will hear from regional leaders in transportation planning, community zoning and mobility services management as they discuss the opportunities, challenges, and resources available to the Chicago region. Attendees will gain an understanding of the benefits of investing in active transportation infrastructure and the programs and resources available to their communities. Local partners who have worked to plan and implement projects across the Chicago region will share their experiences. The RTA and past program participants will also provide guidance on the RTA Access to Transit Program, which encourages increasing transit accessibility through small-scale improvements.SPEAKERS

Alex Devlin, Senior Planner, RTAAlex manages the RTA's Access to Transit Program. Previously he was a bicycle and pedestrian planner in St. Louis. Maggie Melin, Advocacy Manager, Active Transportation Alliance. Maggie Melin is an advocacy manager at the Active Transportation Alliance. She leads the Chicagoland Complete Streets Coalition and the Bike Walk Every Town Alliance suburban advocacy program.Curtis Witek, Senior Project Manager, Antero Group. Curtis has been a planner and project manager with Antero Group since 2017 and leads the project team on the Bedford Park Last Mile Mobility Study and Connect2Work Mobility Pilot.
