A great facilitator makes it easy for groups of people to collaborate, make decisions and move projects forward. But, many of the things we take for granted in-person are the exact factors that can lead to a virtual session falling flat. This workshop provides a set of everyday tools and techniques for leading people and work in a virtual environment.Key learning takeaways include:<ul><li>Essential habits for everyday remote facilitation and how to adapt your facilitation voice for virtual settings</li><li>Leading sessions based on the needs of the group, not the features of the technology</li><li>Naming, communicating, and designing for the type of meeting you’re leading</li><li>Understanding common group dynamics in remote settings and how to plan for different learning styles, managing difficult personalities, and engaging all participants in conversation</li><li>Practices for keeping energy up and engagement consistent</li><li>Using your tools and your team to create accountability, documentation, and action outside of your session</li></ul>WHAT IS A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP?Online courses will never be a full substitute for what can be done in-person, but it doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice the elements that make in-person experiences so impactful. These virtual workshops retain those elements that make our in-person workshops so valuable—in-depth conversations, surprises, hands-on application, energizing facilitation, and peer-to-peer learning. From the number of participants we allow to the technology we leverage to the facilitators we bring in, our remote sessions are designed with a deep level of intentionality to maximize engagement and your potential to learn. Leading great workshops is in our company’s DNA, so we don’t use the word ‘workshop’ lightly.HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE<ul><li>This is a cameras-on, participatory experience with lots of fun interaction. Meaning, we highly encourage you use a computer with a functioning camera, microphone, and internet</li><li>A comfortable environment to log in from so you can actively speak and participate (we know it can be difficult to find a perfectly quiet spot at home, so all we ask is you do your best!)</li><li><a href="https://zoom.us/download" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zoom downloaded</a> on your computer. Note—if you are unable to download Zoom, you can also join the link from your browser (Chrome or Edge work best). Please allow for an additional 5 minutes before the session starts to get it set up.</li><li>Access to Google Docs. You don’t need a google account or gmail address to access the documents, but make sure you can <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KCSQUC1PXyorwsEZJ7Ji0yeL_9yXZtiREdeG2_B3DWQ/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">access this test document beforehand</a>.</li><li>A beverage and/or snack. This session is a two-hour course so make sure you’re able to take care of yourself while participating!</li></ul>
